General Family Medicine, Urgent Care, and Preventive Medicine

A Mechanical Engineer for three years until he decided to go to Medical School at UAB, Dr. Vaughn graduated in the top of his class and was voted the Outstanding Senior Medical Student at UAB. Dr. Vaughn is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine and takes a keen interest in nutrition, vitamins and exercise.

Dr. Vaughn is a member of the American College for the Advancement of Medicine which is the leading alternative medical society. He is also a member of the American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine and the American Association of Family Physicians. Dr. Vaughn is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Family medicine for UAB.


 

Jo Herzog

Dermatologist

Dr. Jo Herzog grew up in New York City and attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She then went on to complete a dermatology residency at Penn State. She is board certified in dermatology and has special interest in surgical and cosmetic dermatology.  Dr. Herzog has done quite a bit of clinical research that has led to the FDA approval of several of the drugs and products that are currently being used. She enjoys teaching patients, fellow physicians, and students.  She is a member of several local, national, and international dermatology groups and enjoys reviewing professional  papers for publication.

Dr. Herzog and her husband, Dr. Robert Pearlman, have five children and live in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Herzog currently practices at Brookwood Dermatology in Vestavia, Alabama.

Joe Beam

Chairman, Marriage Helper Inc.

Joe Beam is an internationally-known speaker, author and respected marriage and relationships expert. He is currently completing research studies for a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science, with an emphasis on sexology, at The University of Sydney.

In 1994, Joe founded Family Dynamics. He currently serves as Chairman of Marriage Helper, Inc.  a not for profit corporation dedicated to improving marriages. He has spoken in person to millions of people worldwide as has appeared on television and radio, including ABC's Good Morning America, Focus on the Family, the Montel Williams Show, NBC's Today Show, The Dave Ramsey Show, and The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. Joe's articles have circulated worldwide.

Joe's intensive seminar for troubled marriages, Marriage Helper 911, is regarded as one of the most successful resources for saving marriages. The success rate for couples in crisis who attend the seminar and choose to stay together is 3 out of 4. Joe and his wife Alice consider it their mission to make this statistic 4 out of 4.  Joe and Alice reside in Nashville, Tennessee.

Iris O'Brien

Chef, Recipe Developer & Food Stylist

Iris O'Brien is a chef, recipe developer, food stylist/photographer, and entrepreneur. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mississippi University For Women and an Associates Degree of Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University. She spent over five years in the Oxmoor House and Southern Living test kitchens working on Southern Living and Cooking Light cookbooks and testing and developing recipes. Her latest projects include Cooking Lights Chill cookbook featuring smoothies, slushes, shakes, juices, drinks and ices. She is inventor and owner of Tuscan Ovens. She was a founding board member and worked in the development of Mississippi University For Women's School of Culinary Arts. Iris is Married to Dr. Joby O'Brien and has four children. She and her family reside in Birmingham, Alabama.

Robert Pearlman

Neurologist

Dr. Robert Pearlman, a native of Pennsylvania, attended Penn State Medical School. He did his residency at Penn State and a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at The University of Alabama in Birmingham. He currently practices at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, in general neurology with a specialty in neuromuscular disease and headache. He lives in Birmingham with his wife, Dr. Jo Herzog, and has five children.

Greg Banks MD, FACOG, FACS

Greg Banks MD, FACOG, FACS earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee. His residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the Fellowship of American College of Surgeons. He is a proctor for Davinci Robotic Surgery and is a preceptor for University of Alabama PA School. He is currently on staff at Brookwood Medical Center specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has served as Chairman of both the Obstetrical Process Improvement Committee and the Gynecologic Process Improvement Committee at Brookwood Medial Center. He is a member of the Birmingham OB GYN Society and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
He has a special interest in high risk obstetrics, minimally invasive robotic surgery and pelvic reconstructive surgery. He enjoys personalized care for women at all stages of life.
