Homemade Garlic Pepper Seasoning
This homemade garlic pepper seasoning is so versatile that you’ll be reaching for it every day (and it is so much better than store bought)!
I recently discovered this homemade garlic pepper seasoning and am crazy about it. It has wonderful, complex flavor that is neither too garlicky nor too peppery . The additional seasonings – brown sugar, cumin, salt & onion powder – make it a perfectly balanced low-salt blend.
Before discovering this homemade version, I was using a store bought that just didn’t deliver. It had an overly processed taste and was interestingly, too salty. This recipe is so much better than anything I’ve tried before, and it is so versatile.
I use this seasoning for roasted veggies, chicken, fish, and lemon-basil dressing for this Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse Chopped Salad Copycat Recipe. I usually triple the recipe below since I use so much.
Homemade Garlic Pepper Seasoning
- 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 2 teaspoons Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Brown Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon dried Parsley
Mix all ingredients. Store in an airtight bag or spice canister. I love this RSVP Big Mouth Airtight Spice Jar, as its wide opening allows for me to dip into the spice jar for a pinch of seasoning as needed. (For frequent salt & pepper use, I absolutely love my Paula Deen Salt Box; I couldn’t go a day in the kitchen without it!
Hi Jacqueline, I just use whatever I have on hand. Both work just fine!!
Hi Jacqueline, I have used both and don’t have a preference! The main difference is the color!!!!
Hi,
Just wondering if you recommend using light or dark brown sugar?
I hope you enjoy it!!!!!!
Thank you for this! I haven’t been able to find it the last 3 times shopping. I can be assured that it will be gluten free
Excited to put it together
Hi Carol! I do have a print button on all the recipes; however, it can be easy to miss. Look at the upper right hand corner of the recipe card~to the right of the recipe title/name. You will see the print button. Hope this helps!!!
Why don’t you have a print button for your recipes?
