The Reader’s Digest Fast Release Shake

The Reader’s Digest Fast Release Shake combines fruit, healthy fat, fiber, and several other ingredients designed to aid in the “fast release” of body fat. True or not, the shake is super yummy!

Reader's Digest Fast Release ShakeThe Reader’s Digest Fast Release Shake is a delicious & healthy smoothie that is chock full of ingredients that have myriad health benefits. If used as part of the Reader’s Digest diet, it is supposed to work to burn fat more efficiently. I’m not sure about all of that, but I just know the shake is really yummy!

There are quite a few ingredients in the shake, and there are several options for customizing the shake according to preference. I love making this with fresh fruit, but frozen is delicious also. The frozen fruit version will be much thicker and creamier than the fresh fruit version.

This shake freezes well, and I’ve sent it with Zane to work, frozen in a plastic shaker. By lunch time, it is thawed enough to be broken apart and stirred into a smoothie. When I’ve had this smoothie for breakfast, it has kept me full well until lunch.

Customize this shake for a healthy smoothie that will keep you full for hours!

Ingredients

  • MAIN INGREDIENTS:
  • 3/4 cup nonfat yogurt (I use Oikos Greek vanilla)
  • 1/4 cup light coconut milk
  • 3 tablespoons nonfat milk powder
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ice cubes
  • CHOOSE 1 HEALTHY FRUIT/FIBER COMBO:
  • 1 banana
  • 1 apple (peeled and cored) plus 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
  • 8 strawberries (fresh or frozen) plus 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
  • 3/4 to 1 cup mixed frozen berries plus 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
  • 1 tangerine or small orange plus 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
  • CHOOSE 1 HEALTHY FAT:
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower seed butter
  • 1 tablespoon tahini

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Place in blender or Vita-Mix.
  3. Blend until smooth.
