Toll House Chocolate Chip Pie

|

Toll House Chocolate Chip Pie is packed with rich, buttery, nutty chocolate decadence that makes it one of America’s favorite desserts.

Toll House Chocolate Chip Pie

Toll House Chocolate Chip pie is a classic Nestle recipe that is famous in its own right.  The recipe first appeared on the back of Nestle’s Toll House Chocolate Chips, but now it can be found online and in cookbooks everywhere.

Toll House Chocolate Chip pie is perfect for those whose sweet tooth wants more than a simple cookie or slice of pie. This dessert is basically a “cookie pie,” or a hybrid of pecan pie and chocolate chip cookies. It truly is a sugar rush to the sweet tooth!

The bottom layer of the pie calls for a classic pie crust: I use Pillsbury refrigerated.  To avoid over browned crust, I always cover the edges with my favorite pie shield. It gives perfectly cooked but never browned edges every time.

This pie freezes beautifully for up to a month in the freezer. Wrap well, and allow to thaw several hours before serving. I love keeping a pie in the freezer. If someone needs a meal, I can throw something together and not have to worry about making a dessert.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be blessed, and stay savvy!

This rich, decadent pie is laden with nuts and chocolate morsels. What's not to love?

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust, I use Pillsbury refrigerated
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened and cubed
  • 3/4 cup walnuts or pecans, finely diced
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Beat the eggs on high until foamy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the flour and both sugars; beat for 2 minutes on high.
  4. Scrape down the bowl and add the butter, beating on high until well-combined.
  5. Fold the nuts and chocolate chips into the filling.
  6. Scrape into the prepared pie shell and smooth into an even layer.
  7. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until top of pie is set and beginning to crack.
  8. The pie is done when it is puffed and lightly golden. It will firm up as it cools.
  9. Allow to cool before slicing.
  10. Since this pie is best served warm, heat slices for 20 seconds in microwave.
  11. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
