I want to share with my savvy friends a few ways to style skinny jeans & leggings to get several different looks~from contemporary to classic to comfy.
I decided to share a few ways that I like to style skinny jeans & leggings for those of you who, like me, have been looking for ideas that don’t look like they came from Seventeen magazine:-). Not bashing Seventeen; I am just anything but that age and stage of life.
On skinny jeans: If you think you don’t have the body for skinny jeans, I promise~you can rock them! There are ways to style them that look great on different ages and body types, and they can be dressed up or down for the occasion.
Personally, I’ve found that the most flattering skinnys jeans for my shape are Joe’s Jeans and Paige. The premium denim in these brands has the perfect amount of stretch. My jeans “stretch test” in the dressing room is to do a seated lunge and sit with legs crossed. If I can do both easily and comfortably, I’m sold:-)
Where to buy: If you live near a Nordstrom Rack, you are in huge luck. Premium brands are sold at a discount, and some are made specifically for the store and are a tad different (and a little less quality in some cases) than full price stores. But where jeans are concerned, a good pair is an investment and a wardrobe staple, so I don’t mind paying more for what fits and will last.
Below are a few looks from my closet. I’ve tried to link to actual products that I’m wearing, but when they aren’t available, I link to something similar.
Skinny Jeans Look #1~”Dressing for Dinner Guests”
For this look, I combined three “clear” accessories~earrings, pendant & sandals. These clear shoes really are cool. I justified buying them because I have daughters who can wear these to dances~they go with everything. I wear them when entertaining at or close to home where I can kick them off after an hour or so; I am the ultimate tenderfoot.
These shoes totally showcase the feet, so make sure to get a pedi (or give yourself one at home) before you wear them.

Skinny Jeans Look #2~”Date Night Out”
This is a great look for a dinner party or night on the town where comfy shoes are a must. The same split-sleeve blouse is dressed up with a pearl choker, and the black pointy toe flats add a classic touch that is all-night wearable. The Kate Spade clutch rounds out the look.

Skinny Jeans Look #3: Casual & Comfy
This is one of my go-to looks for skinny jeans. A casual tush-covering top, a Drusy choker, black skinny jeans, and some of my FAVE shoes (I have these in 3 colors) for all day long strappy & stylish comfort.
These shoes literally rock. Gentle Souls is my new fave style. A division of Kenneth Cole, they are designed to be the ultimate in cute and comfy. For more of my fave shoes that are cute and comfy, check out this post.

Leggging Look #1: Totally Travel
This legging look is super chill and totally for travel~whether long distance or about the town. These white sneakers are all-day comfy, and the Athleta top and bottom are as well. This is my uniform on moderate fall days when I am running errands or just doing my day-to-day circuit.
Legging Look #2: “Out & About”
This style can basically take me anywhere before evening. Whether taking a jaunt to The Summit with Cam (read this post on dog-friendly stores) or having lunch with a friend, this outfit is perfect. The colorful tunic, drusy quartz choker, and white platform sandals give just enough sass to these leggings to take me wherever I need to go.
I love these Athleta Revelation flare leggings, but at last check, discovered they are sold out. There are tons of similar options, though. The key is pairing some straight or flare leggings with a colorful button up tunic and some kicky shoes. These rubber sole shoes from Amazon are fab, comfy, and budget savvy to boot!
