Welcome to Family Savvy; I am so glad that you stopped by! If you are new to the site, here is where you’ll find answers to the most commonly asked questions about me or the blog.
Why did you start a blog?
In 2011, I was co-leading a young women’s small group with one of my best friends. Our goal as “older women” was to teach the younger ones what we knew~about family, marriage, parenting, and especially cooking! My husband suggested that I put all the advice, recipes, and so forth in blog format so that our daughters (and others) could reference it any time. I followed his advice, and slowly but surely, Family Savvy was born!
What is Family Savvy about?
FOOD: The blog is primarily about cooking for loved ones. I share my favorite recipes, along with savvy tips that I’ve learned along the way to make things easier. I am very big on make ahead and freezer friendly foods, and I love to use convenience items to make things taste as good as homemade (but with far less prep).
BEAUTY: Thanks largely to the expert advice of my friend and dermatologist Dr. Jo Herzog, I am able to learn and share about the latest products and procedures in the world of cosmetic dermatology. I also share some of my personal beauty tips and advice on hair, makeup, etc…..that I’ve learned along the way.
FAMILY: Marriage & parenting is another topic that I hold near and dear. As a mom of 3 daughters and wife (29 years and counting), I have much to share from my years’ of experience. I share about my marriage (bumps and all) and my husband’s and my passion for marriage ministry. I offer information about our favorite marriage resources in hopes that others in need might be able to utilize them.
REVIEWS: I do occasional product, movie, and book reviews. I heavily rely on reviews to make my purchasing decisions, so I like to share my own in hopes that they might help others as well.
What camera do you use? (This is a joke; I am NEVER asked what camera I use!) It is obvious that my photography is amateur at best. Every photo is shot with my iPhone. That’s about as good as it gets. This dog is too old to learn the new trick of stunning food photography!
