“Better Than Arby’s” Beef & Cheddar

This “Better Than Arby’s” Beef & Cheddar is SO much yummier and fresher tasting than the fast food sandwich. It is perfect for parties, tailgates, and picnics!

This Arby’s Beef & Cheddar copycat recipe is so good that even my pickiest daughter said it was “amazing!” It is so easy to make, and it tastes much more homemade fresh than the Arby’s version. If you prefer the Arby’s Classic Roast Beef, simply leave off the cheese sauce, and there you have it~your own copycat version of the classic:-)

Better than Arby's Beef & Cheddar

Roast Beef: I use the Boar’s Head London Broil Top Round Roast Beef. It is seasoned with garlic and a few spices that give it fabulous flavor. I ask the deli butcher to slice it “shaved falling apart.” I order all of my deli meat this way. It isn’t really a number on the slicer; it is just as thin as you can possibly slice deli meat. It won’t be paper thin like Arby’s, but it super thin and works beautifully for this sandwich.

Note: The roast beef will be pink when you buy it, but you will warm it in the oven until it is cooked through and light brown. This tidbit is for those of you like me who don’t like any red in their beef:-)

Buns: I used wheat because we prefer it to white, but use your favorite. The secret is to spray the inside of the buns with butter spray and toast lightly before assembling the sandwich. The photos in this post are slider size.

Barbecue Sauce: I use Big Bob Gibson’s barbecue sauce, and I think it tastes similar to Arby’s (but better). I like to mix my meat in sauce before assembling the sandwiches so that the meat stays moist.

Cheese sauce: For the Beef & Cheddar version, I use my favorite cheese sauce in the world~this French onion cheese fondue. It melts perfectly and adds the flavor of onion and cheese to the sandwich. This sauce is amazing. You could dip rocks in it and they would taste great~LOL!

I hope you enjoy these sandwiches. Since they don’t have mayo, they are perfect for picnics or tailgates on hot days. Let me hear back if you make them. I’d love to know if YOU think they are better than You-know-where:-) As always, thanks so much for stopping by. Be blessed, and stay savvy!!!
