|

This egg salad with a twist is simple yet over-the-top delicious thanks to one secret ingredient!

Growing up I wouldn’t touch egg salad, but now I find myself craving it all the time! In my opinion, the best egg salads have an even texture, bright zingy flavor, and simple ingredients. This one fits the bill and is my new go-to! It’s great to meal prep and have on hand for a high-protein lunch, dinner, or any-time snack. Even if you aren’t an egg salad fan, I would bet you will be surprised by this company-worth dish!

Why Does My Egg Salad Taste Bland?

Is there anything worse than bland egg salad? While I like my recipes simple, that doesn’t mean I want them to lack flavor! The best egg salad is made with plenty of salt, pepper, and dressing. Here the secret is in the sauce – Chosen Foods Sweet and Bold Chicken Sauce!  This recipe is a twist on your classic egg salad recipe, and it packs a flavor punch with Wickle’s Relish, dijon mustard, and a few simple seasonings.

How Should I Chop Eggs For Egg Salad?

To ensure you have the perfect texture, I always recommend using a box grater to grate your eggs. While some people chop their eggs, I find this leads to an uneven texture. The box grater is quick and foolproof- just watch your fingers!

What Ingredients Are In Egg Salad With A Twist?

This easy and delicious recipe comes together in a matter of minutes with just a few ingredient! To make it you need the following:

  • 8 large eggs, hard boiled
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard or stone ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Wickle’s relish – I love adding Wickle’s relish to egg, tuna, and chicken salad recipes for a little crunch and a zesty flavor punch!
  • 1-2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise – I love the Chosen Foods avocado mayo! You can also use Greek yogurt, but I recommend using mayo for a smoother consistency and traditional flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Chosen Foods Chicken Sauce – this is the secret ingredient which takes this recipe from good to great! It tastes like Chick-fil-A sauce but better, and is made with healthy and clean ingredients!

How Do I Make Egg Salad With A Twist?

Start by making eight large hard boiled eggs. You can boil them, cook them in the instant pot, or steam them like I do! Peel your eggs, and use a box grater to grate them into a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix together your mayo, mustard, relish, Chosen Foods Chicken sauce, lemon juice, and seasoning. Next, pour the dressing over your grated eggs and mix thoroughly. You can serve as is or garnish with chopped red onion or fresh herbs like parsley, chives, or green onion!

How Do You Peel Hard Boiled Eggs?

If you’ve ever made egg salad before, you know the most cumbersome part is peeling the eggs. For easier peeling, try putting your cooked eggs in an ice water bath first. The cold water makes the egg whites contract, pulling away from the shell.

How Long Does Egg Salad Last In The Fridge?

I love to make this recipe at the beginning of the week to have in the fridge for easy and delicious meal prep! Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days and enjoy with a side of veggies like celery or carrots, with crackers, in a lettuce wrap, or between two slices of bread for an egg salad sandwich!
