Make water the main attraction.

Once I learned the secret of making water the “main attraction” at parties, I’ve never looked back. The days of serving a bevy of assorted drinks to suit everyone’s tastes are over. I’ve found the secret to making water the most irresistible drink at any gathering. It is so easy, economical, and practical that I only wish I’d known this trick sooner. Want to know how to make water the most popular drink at the party? Read on!

Serve water in a beverage dispenser.

A water dispenser is a game-changer for those who entertain often. I absolutely love mine and use it ALL the time. Beverage dispensers come in assorted sizes and shapes, with glass and acrylic being the most common material. Some beverage dispensers stand alone, but many come with bases to lift them up above the countertop or table. I like to have my dispensers elevated so that any size glass can fit under the spigot.

Fill the water dispenser with lots of ice.

A water dispenser filled to the brim with ice makes for a lovely presentation (and also well-chilled water). I love to buy small “crunchy” ice from a local drive-through. I fill the canister with the ice and also serve some of it on the side for the guests to put in their glasses. Making homemade ice cubes is a great idea also. Fruit and mint leaves can be frozen into cubes for extra flavor and color.

Below are some lovely water/beverage dispensers.

Add lots of fruit to the water.

The sky is the limit when adding fruit to a lovely beverage canister filled with water. I love choosing vibrant colors that blend well together. Some favorite options are as follows:

  • Red (watermelon, cherries, pomegranate seeds, strawberries)
  • Yellow/green (lemons, limes, kiwi, grapes)
  • Purple/blue (grapes blackberries, plums, blueberries).

Be beverage ready at your next party.

An hour or two before guests arrive, fill your water dispenser to the brim with ice; add water. When the water makes the ice “sink down,” add as much fruit as you can fit to the top. As the ice melts, the fruit will continue to float in the water, infusing it with color and flavor. In the short video below, I am getting the beverage canister ready for a party.

Why serving water makes sense (and cents).

Fruit water is one of the healthiest beverages you can drink and serve to guests. Clean drinking water (not tap) filled with fruits yields low-sugar, natural, tasty, and refreshing beverage options. Since fruit water has very little sugar and no alcohol, it will hydrate rather than dehydrate.

Some favorite water + fruit combinations.

Some fruits and herbs go really well together, and some fruits are better frozen before adding to fruit water.  I list some of my favorite combinations below.

  • Spa fruit water: Honeydew or cantaloupe + cucumber slices + mint.
  • Strawberry fruit water. Strawberries + kiwi + mint.
  • Tropical fruit water. Frozen pineapple slices + coconut chunks + mango chunks.
  • Tummy cleanse fruit water. Blackberries + lemon + ginger.
  • Watermelon fruit water. Frozen watermelon chunks + kiwi slices + lemon slices.
