whipped cream

In my opinion, nothing can compare to homemade whipped cream on dessert. It is SO much better than the store-bought in every way. Believe me, you can taste the difference! This recipe is so simple with only three ingredients and only a few minutes to make it. Once you have tried this, you will never go back to the store-bought!

How do you make the whipped cream taste good?

While you can always just make whipped cream with only cream, what makes it taste so delicious is the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Make sure not to add the sugar and vanilla right at the beginning, but wait until it begins to thicken up to add it in. Once added, you can whip it until finished.

Which works better: powdered or granulated sugar?

Personally, I use powdered sugar. Since powdered sugar is finer, it blends in much better into the cream than granulated sugar would. If you do use it, you might have some grit in your whipped cream instead of that silky smooth that the version with powdered sugar creates.

Does the type of cream matter?

Yes! Heavy whipping cream is the cream to use for making whipped cream. If you used half and half, you would not get the same results. So it is important to get heavy whipping cream as opposed to any other milk or cream.

How do you know when it is ready to serve?

You can know when the whipped cream is ready to serve when it has waves in it from the mixer. Another way to tell if it is ready is by holding your spoon with some whipped cream upside down. If it stays in place, you are good! If it falls back into the bowl maybe continue whipping for some more time.

What are some tips to make it whip faster?

Something helpful to make the whipped cream whip faster is to freeze some of the items you are using beforehand. I like to put the bowl as well as the whisk attachment to the mixer in the freezer thirty minutes before I make the whipped cream. This tip is not a necessary part of the process, but it sure does to get to that fluffy yummy result.

What does homemade whipped cream go well with?

Homemade whipped cream is the perfect addition to almost any dessert! It goes great with warm desserts like brownies, cake, or a cobbler. Personally, I like to put it on a strawberry shortcake, but really anything goes perfect with this delicious homemade whipped cream!
