Here’s how to style Athleta from day to night by changing shoes, sweaters and accessories to dress the pieces up or down.
If I had to choose one store to call “favorite,” it would have to be Athleta. My daily uniform is pretty much a pair of Athleta leggings and a top. I dress for the day (usually including Pilates) and don’t change again unless I have to.
I’ve recently starting buying more pieces from Athleta to build a basic wardrobe that can be accessorized to go from casual to evening. My savvy friend Marie inspired me in this arena. She always looks so fab, and so many of her basic pieces are from Athleta. She just knows how to dress them up or down.
I’ve collected a few basic Athleta pieces that I’ll share in this post, along with the items I use to dress them up for cooler weather or for nights out. I’m really loving the versatility of these pieces and of course the comfort as well.
Athleta can be overwhelming since so many pieces look similar, so I link to the exact pieces that I am wearing in the photos. First, here are the Athleta pieces that I am wearing.
Next, here are the pieces (a few similar) that I am putting with the Athleta to take it from day to night.
Sleeveless Turtleneck and Wide Leg Pants
(ABOVE) I am wearing the Athleta flurry base layer tank in white. It is a ribbed fabric with a hem that hits mid-hip. I am pairing it with Athleta’s Chelsea wide leg pant in navy and the Marc Fisher fringe sandal in taupe. For warm nights when a sweater would be too hot, I just throw on this leopard scarf.
The animal print Wildfox cardigan that I am wearing (far right) came from Nordstrom Rack, but can’f find it online to share with you. This one from Anthropologie is similar and a little more streamlined.
Sleeveless Short Dress
(ABOVE) The Athleta Initiative dress is truly a go-anywhere dress, especially in black. In the far left photo with Cam, I am wearing it with my fringe Marc Fisher sandals. Flats or gladiators would also be great warm weather shoe options.
The Gentle Souls Emma over-the-knee boots in the far right photo are another option for taking this dress into cooler months and into the evening. The leopard cardigan would be a great option for cool days, or the 4-way convertible cardigan that I am wearing would be a lighter option.
Ribbed Crew Tank and Cropped Pants
I put taupe Marc Fisher Lizzy boots with these for a Fall look. In the photo at right, I threw on this faux fur vest from Nordstrom Rack. It is sold out in small, so this faux fur vest from GAP is another option.
These are just a few easy ways that I like to take my basic Athleta faves from casual day to a bit more dressy night. If you just can’t get enough info on Athleta style, you might hop over to another post that I wrote, Transition Into Fall With Cute & Comfy Athleisure.
