Is Marinara Sauce the Same As Tomato Sauce?

Marinara and tomato sauce are both Italian tomato-based sauces, but marinara sauce is a lighter, more simple sauce. It contains lots of garlic and fresh herbs. On the other hand, pasta sauce is more robust, usually containing meat or vegetables. Additionally, many tomato sauces start with a roux and simmer for hours. Marinara is thinner than tomato sauce and often accompanies pasta and pizza.

How Do I Make This Four Ingredient Italian Meatballs Recipe?

Making these delicious Italian meatballs is as easy as throwing all the ingredients in a pot and letting them simmer! To prepare this dish, start by adding two tablespoons of EVOO to a dutch oven or skillet. Secondly, sauté your meatballs in EVOO until they are golden. Next, add your marinara and shredded parmesan on top, stirring to combine. Finally, reduce the heat, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes.

What Goes Well With Marinara Meatballs?

The best part about these meatballs is that you can serve them however you like! They are delicious on their own or paired with oven-roasted vegetables for a low-carb meal. If you are a pasta fan, they are FAB served over noodles or zoodles (zucchini noodles). Additionally, they made the perfect base for an Italian meatball sub.

Can I Meal-Prep This Italian Meatballs Recipe?

If you want to be extra savvy with your weeknight meals, you can prepare these meatballs ahead of time. Because they are simple to make and so versatile, Italian meatballs make a fabulous meal prepped recipe! If you decide to make them ahead of time, simply refrigerate them in an airtight container and reheat them in a skillet when you are ready to serve.
