Skillet Blackberry Crumble
This skillet blackberry crumble features blackberries nestled underneath a buttery, sugary oatmeal crust.
Frozen blackberries are wonderful to have on hand to make a yummy berry dessert any time of year. My two favorite ways to use frozen blackberries are this crumble and our favorite skillet blackberry cobbler. Both are easy to make and absolutely delicious served with vanilla ice cream!
Crisp or crumble~what’s the difference? A crumble is a mixture of oats, sugars & butter blended into a streusel-like topping and baked atop berries. A crisp is similar, but it does not contain oats.
Although this crumble can be made in a baking dish, it is so much better made in a 12-inch cast iron skillet. In my opinion, there is nothing that matches the texture and appearance of foods baked in cast iron.
