What is strawberry butter?

The strawberry butter recipe in the Neiman Marcus cookbook (copyright 2003) contained real butter and strawberry preserves. For decades, Neiman Marcus served this strawberry butter with freshly baked popovers.

How do you use strawberry butter?

Any breaksfast bread pairs beautifully with this lucsious strawberry spread. I serve this with biscuits, croissants, and scones. It goes with popovers and basically any bread that you choose.

How do you serve strawberry butter?

Strawberry butter looks fabulous molded into the shape of a ball or cut into shapes (while chilled) with a cookie cutter. You can also serve guests small individual scoops of strawberry in miniature ramekins or small plates. Strawberry butter is best chilled just until serving.

What is the best brand of preserves?

The preface to the recipe states that Neiman Marcus uses “only the best strawberry preserves available.” There are many high quality preserves in grocery and food specialty stores. Smuckers was the  Cooks Illustrated taste tests top pick. My favorite breand is Bonne Maman, also recommended by Cook’s Illustrated, along with Stonewall Kitchen.

What is the best brand of butter?

Cook’s Illustrated taste tests rated Challenge their top pick for unsalted butter. They also gave high marks to Kerrygold and Land O’Lakes. I tried Challenge butter once when it was BOGO at Publix and thought that it was excellent.

I hope you’ll give this strawberry bread a try! As always, thanks so much for stopping by. Be blessed, and stay savvy!!!

  1. Hi Weezy!!! It is definitely good on English muffins; I’ve never tried on bagels. Honestly, I think this will be fabulous on anything! Please let me know how you like it. It really is so easy and different!!! XoXo

  2. All I can say is “Yum”. The butter sounds really good. Next time I go to store, I am going to get both the butter and strawberry preserves, and give this a try. I bet it is really good on bagels and English muffins.

  5. Hi Barbara! I never have, but I’ll bet you could make some amazing spreads using other flavors! If you try any, please get back with us on comments so that we’ll know what works. Thanks for commenting!!

  6. Have you ever tried any other flavor preserves or marmalade to make this? Perhaps peach or orange?

  7. Teresa, I am so glad you shared this info! I bought the Bonne Maman yesterday per your recommendation:-) Although I do follow CI recommendations on some things, anyone who made preserves with her grandmother is the true “expert.” Thanks, savvy friend!!!

  8. I beg to differ with Cook’s Illustrated on this one! I am a “preserves snob,” (the by-product of having freshly picked from the garden strawberries, blueberries, etc straight from the garden and making homemade preserves along side my grandmother)!
Hands down, Bonne Maman strawberry preserves is the best store-bought variety. I had to make my own until I found this delicious alternative.
Maybe CI didn’t like the price; it does cost more than Welch’s and the other brands, but it is absolutely worth it!
…and I look forward to trying the strawberry butter!
