Can I add bacon to these green beans with shallots?

Absolutely! Adding bacon to this dish would bring the flavor of these green beans to another level. Chop up a few pieces of bacon and add them to a pan before the green beans and mushrooms. Sauteeing the bacon with all of the veggies will add some amazing flavor to these veggies. While the green beans are also good without, the bacon adds more of a dynamic flavor to the dish.

Try these!

Which is better: fresh or store-bought?

Fresh is almost always better, but store-bought works too and can still be delicious! Using fresh green beans will provide the best texture, but frozen can work for this recipe as well. Texture aside, the frozen will taste just as delicious!

Are green beans good for you?

Yes! Adding this dish to your day not only supplies you with your daily dose of vegetables but provides some calcium and vitamin K. Green beans are also a really good source of fiber, which is just as important! These are a great option to add to your next family dinner.

How long should I cook the green beans?

After salting your water, you are going to want to steam the green beans in a steamer for 5 minutes. Steaming the beans will give them a great texture and prevent them from getting soggy. After being steamed, the green beans will cook further in the pan with all of the other components of this recipe. The green beans can be added to the mushrooms once they have been cooked to the texture you want. After everything is sauteed, you should leave the lid on the pan for 5 more minutes so that everything is the desired texture.

What kinds of spices should I add to this dish?

In this dish, I added salt, pepper, and garlic powder. This combination made the green beans SO yummy. If you happen to add bacon to the green beans (as recommended earlier), this will add SO much amazing flavor to the green beans. Whatever you want to add to this dish works! You can add as many or as few spices and flavorings as you want. Season to taste!

How long does it take to make green beans with shallots?

This recipe is so quick and so easy! It should only take about 15-20 minutes of cook time. The prep time should also only take about 10-15 minutes. This recipe is perfect if you need a good side dish in a hurry. Once you try this dish, you will love it for its flavor, but also for its quick creation!
