Sausage, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Sandwich

This sausage, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich is super easy to make and is a delicious, hearty start to the day.

 

 

 

 

 

This yummy breakfast sandwich is a favorite at our home. I throw these together on many mornings and keep them in a warm toaster oven for everyone to grab as they head out the door.

The ingredients are simple, especially the frozen sausage patties that are fully cooked and only require reheating. The eggs take the longest to cook, but in a pinch, I microwave them in ramekins (1 minute per egg is usually all it takes).

turkey sausage (I keep a bag of Jimmy Dean in the freezer),
Bay’s sourdough English muffins (sourdough is our fave),
Vermont white cheddar (Boar’s Head or Cracker Barrel)
eggs, margarine spread, and salt & pepper.

The sharp cheese and sourdough English muffins really make a great McMuffin. Both of these give a tangy, rich flavor that is really delicious. I also make sure to salt & pepper the eggs well – that makes a difference also.

Here’s the method. I try to get all the steps going at once – eggs cooking, bread toasting, and sausage cooking.

Step 1: Put sausage patties in skillet with a few TB water; cook according to package directions. Set aside.

Step 2: Split muffins & butter all sides. Toast in toaster oven until edges begin to brown. Set aside.

Step 3:  Put eggs, salt, pepper, and a dash of milk in bowl. Mix well. Cook as desired (I do omelet style).

Step 4: Assemble each with sausage, a slice of cheese, and egg. Keep warm or wrap until serving.
